This was modeled in Maya using Nurbs Surfaces. Not the easiest of surfaces to model in, but in my opinion is the best for non-organic shapes.
This was modeled in Maya using Subdivision Surfaces and applied some texture mapping to it. This surface type I enjoyed working with the most.
